Smoke detectors are the primary means of fire
detection in the home. They go into alarm when smoke
is present in the sensing chamber. The smoke detector
will then trigger the alarm panel to send a fire code to
the central station.
Heat detectors are another form of fire detection. The
difference between heat detectors and smoke detectors
is that heat detectors are not affected by dust, steam,
or any other smoke like particles. This allows for
placement in kitchens, garages, and attics to name a
few.
